Mark Cherrie completed his PhD at the European Centre for Environmental and Human Health in 2015. He worked with the Met Office to examine links between sun exposure, a proxy for vitamin D intake, and eczema in the UK.
Mark worked in partnership with the Met Office and various health organisations to explore if there is an association between solar irradiance, a proxy for vitamin D intake, and eczema in the UK. The benefits of the project include business opportunities with regards to personalised medicine.
Mark has undertaken two pilot projects for MEDMI. The first project explored the link between vitamin D and osteoporosis. The second involved undertaking an examination of the seasonality of various infectious diseases.
Mark is now working at CRESH (Centre for Research on Environment, Society and Health) at the University of Edinburgh.
