Her three year fellowship will investigate the causal role of a range of factors in type 2 diabetes and obesity using the UK Biobank data, and a genetic technique known as Mendelian Randomisation.
This work will help improve our understanding of type2 diabetes.
Dr Tyrrell has worked on a broad range of epidemiological projects in the last 4 years with particular interest in genetic epidemiology, type 2 diabetes and Ménière’s disease.
Using the UK Biobank, she has furthered our understanding of Ménière’s – investigating a range of factors associated with the disease and its impact on mental health and wellbeing.
Additionally she has worked with a local business, Buzz Interactive, to develop a mobile phone application to enable daily monitoring of Ménière’s. Dr Tyrrell extended this research with funding from MEDMI.
